From a Backyard Prototype to a Collaborative DIY Build
The Amphibian started as a personal design challenge: to build a compact, natural plunge pool for a typical garden. The goal was to create living, chemical-free water without the footprint of a traditional swimming pond or the high energy costs of a standard pool.Following an incredible response from the maker and DIY community, this project is now transitioning from a single backyard prototype into a shared, collaborative build system.The system utilizes a nested, two-tank design (a 1,500L outer tank and a 500L inner plunge zone). Water is constantly circulated through a biological filter bed of lava rock and active plant roots. Because the circulation relies on a highly efficient airlift system, the entire pool runs on a single 30-watt air pump.
